Finally another post!

Sorry I haven't posted in such a long time. Lets see what all I have been up to since my last post. Well a BUNCH of tornados came through my state. My family and friends came through all of them just fine! Thank God for that!  I made a duct tape dress form. That was fun, I guess. Blake got to wrap me in duct tape. I used this tutorial from Samster Mommy. She has some great tips that really make a difference in the finish product.

You might be asking yourself why I have a little boy shaped dress form. Well everyone that is my flat chested shape! Yes I am the president of the IBTC. Anyway I immediately had to try out my dress form and this is the first thing I made on it! I am very pleased with it I wore it today! This was my entire outfit. I thought I looked pretty nice. My sister's friend said I looked like I should be in New York. I'm going to take that as " You are VERY fashionable and look like you just walked off a runway" Too much? Eh oh well.

Aren't they just too cute?

After all the tornados Blake's brother and his family cam and stayed with us for almost a week. They have a little boy the same age as Reagan and she had a blast having a kid her age around the house. They were little terrors but they got along great so that was good. We took them to the park a couple times and they had a blast!

There are a few Parks here in Athens and this past weekend we stopped at one that had ducks and geese. Reagan LOVED it. I thought it was pretty cool too. I still love to feed ducks and geese. The ones at public parks are normally so brave; eating right out of you hand. So cool. We had to make sure and keep Reagan away from the baby ducks so that momma duck didn't bite her. My brother picked up a baby duck when he was around 7 or 8 and momma was very angry she chased him around and kept biting his butt. It was hilarious. to me!

I've made few outfits for Reagan that I will post about soon. Maybe a tutorial in the near future?!?! Until next time! Thanks for reading!

Easter Dress Tutorial

So with Easter coming up I decided that it would be little bit more special if I made Reagan's dress  myself. I also wanted to post a tutorial so that if anyone else would like to make this dress for a special girl in their life, they would have the instructions to do so. I made this dress out of a polyester chiffon that I got for 1 dollar a yard and and old bedsheet laying around the house that had a hole in it. I'm also going to show how I made this draped bodice. In total fabric notions and all I payed about $1.25. Pretty sweet deal for and Easter dress right?
So if you would like to make this dress....

Reagan's Easter Dress

Here's a sneak peek at Reagan's Easter dress I'll try to post a tutorial tomorrow for it and better photos. For now here is few snapshots!
This isn't the dress; it's just a skirt I made out of the same material. 1 dollar a yard can't beat it

                          .
This is the dress. I made a sash to go with it and also hair barrette. Isn't she is such the little model? She LOVES to get her picture taken. Which is good since I love to take pictures of her.
There is a mirror right in front of the toy box over her dresser. I don't have a full body mirror so I often go in there and stand on top of the toy box so I can see my entire outfit or a garment I'm sewing. Whenever I make something for her that matches something of mine we both stand on it and look at ourselves in the mirror. Lol
Hiyah!

This is the smile I get half the time when I say smile for the camera! So silly.

Well thanks for reading. See you tomorrow with the tutorial.

I have the reading taste of a teenager

So I have built a library of teen vampire books. I can't help it I'm hooked on these books.I started with twilight series and after that I bought what seemed like every teen vampire novel that I came across. My most recent book I've read was  Misguided Angel (Blue Bloods, Book 5) I love this series because it's a new twist on the idea of vampires. I enjoy reading these types of books because I can read them fast, and with a VERY active 2 year old that is a useful quality. I also enjoy escaping reality. So if you want a quick read and enjoy vampires and great fashion you should totally check out this series. I'm super excited because this author is doing a companion series about wolves. I love anything supernatural. I'm a total dork. Well at least when Reagan get older I will have a bunch of books that she can read. I really hope that she enjoys reading as much as I do, her daddy hates reading. It bugs him when I read, so I tend to pick up my books after everyone is in bed. Are there any good books that you have read? I am always on the lookout for a good book especially if it is geared for someone half my age. Lol. Anyway  Goodnight ya'll!

My Little Helper

Grosgrain: Fishtail Braid How-to
So I gave fishtail braid a try and this is how the it turned out. My daughter went to bed with two piggy-fishtail braids (that can't be right but oh well). She wanted to look like momma or at least that is how I got her to sit still long enough for me to braid her hair.Kathleen was totally right about it being easy and quick. If you like fishtail braids you should definitely check out the link above, or just go to Grosgrain to check out all the beautiful things she does. I regularly stalk her blog.

Today I went to this textile shop down the road (It's literally 3 miles down the road from me) and picked up this faux leather upholstery fabric 3 dollars for half a yard. I think I'm going to make some shoes for Reagan and maybe a little purse or something for me. Not completely sure yet but I will post whatever comes from it. If anyone has any ideas or tips I'm all ears as usual.
This is Apollo, she is very fond of laying on top of whatever I'm working on. She is laying in my lap as I type. How cute is that face?
This is a skirt I made using a Burda pattern about a week ago.
This is a top I'm working on right now to go with it. Almost done.

This fabric is another buy from Hancock at a dollar a yard. Awesome. I love a deal. Pretty much all of my fabric is a deal. I'm not confident enough yet in my skills to spend a lot on really nice fabric. I often dream of the day when my skills are at that level. (Sigh)  Until then I'll just stalk the blogs of people who do know what they are doing and hopefully some of their knowledge will sink into my brain and bit by bit I will get there.

I'll post pics of my outfit when its done.  Bye-bye blogland.

Potty training where is the silver lining in that?

So Reagan is 2 now and we have been trying to potty train her for a little while now and it is driving me crazy. She is not cooperating at all. She will sit on the potty only to get up and pee in the floor. Ahh! I'm hoping to get her potty trained before we go down to Gulf Shores in June. That's a reasonable timeline for that goal right? Here's hoping. I would love to hear any advice on this, anything that will heklp would be awesome.
Speaking of the beach I've been making little dresses and skirts that match for me and her for the beach. Am I a total dork or what? Ha. I don't care Reagan LOVES it. She always wants to put them on and momma too! It's pretty cute. Then she makes us go look in the mirror because she see me doing that at various stages when I'm making a garment.
polyester chiffon 1$ a yard, moleskin suede 1$ a yard, stretchy Silver Lining 1$ a yard

silk chiffon 1$ a yard, wool flannel 1$ a yard, silk charmeuse 3$ a yard ( I bought all that was left of all of these!!)

I bought A whole bunch of lovely fabric on sale at Hancock fabrics that I'm super excited about I love it so much I don't want to cut into it for fear I'll mess up whatever I'm making. I'm a beginner so I have messed up a few things and I hate wasting the fabric.Does anyone else feel this way? I guess I just need to improve my skills anyone got any tips? I'll take any advice you are willing to give.
Till next time!
